Flame APCs (M132)
The M132, better
known as a Flame APC, was an ARMY modified M113 APC (Armored Personal Carrier).
There were four, along with two support vehicles, assigned to Headquarters
Compamy, 15th Combat Engineer Battalion and they worked in pairs. 1st Platoon,
1st Squad used two for security during road clearing operations (mine sweep)
every morning. Occasionally, two Flame APCs would come out to a land clearing
operation to clear booby traps.
The M132 carried four 50 gallon canisters of pressurized napalm in the troop
area. Its turret mounted delivery system had a maximum throw range of 200
meters.
